Canada Confederation of Shenzhen Associations

About Us

Canada Confederation of Shenzhen Associations (CCSA) was founded in 2016 by Canadian expatriates from Shenzhen.

Shenzhen is the tech and innovation centre and has the biggest import/export port in China. It has a huge advantage in new technology development, trade and logistics. Toronto as the economic and financial centre of Canada seeks foreign investment and cooperation. CCSA’s mission is to cultivate collaborations that mutually benefit the two cities and create a platform for joint innovation, entrepreneurship, commerce and cultural exchanges that deepens the collaboration between Canada and China.

Over the past five years, CCSA has actively promoted the establishment of International Friendly Cities partnership between Toronto and Shenzhen. It continues to build a platform that has made outstanding contribution in promoting science and technology, innovation, arts and culture, economic and trade between Shenzhen and Toronto. In July 2019, CCSA received a formal appreciation letter from Mayor John Tory and members of Toronto City Council for recognizing its contribution in promoting innovation and collaboration in the technology sector in Toronto, and in supporting the creation of the Toronto-Shenzhen International Friendly Cities partnership.

A Letter From The Chair Of CCSA

Canada Confederation of Shenzhen Associations  (CCSA) is the first Shenzhen Overseas Association established by Canadian expatriates from Shenzhen. It allows all overseas Chinese, especially those from Shenzhen to have a common home, and it also builds a platform for friendship, innovation and entrepreneurship. This platform actively promotes activities between Canada and China and deepens those exchanges.

As expats from Shenzhen, "work hard and innovative" is in our genes, and we love Shenzhen, our hometown. For the same dream, we came to Canada to live and study. We also love Canada. This is the shared sentiment of CCSA and its members and it is our solid cornerstone.

Shenzhen and Canada have complementary advantages in economic development. The two places have a solid foundation and broad prospects for cooperation in science and technology, education, economy and trade, culture, and medical care.

Over the past five years, the CCSA has actively participated in and witnessed the growing exchanges and cooperation between Shenzhen and Toronto, China and Canada, and has grown into one of the most influential, innovative and active Chinese associations in Canada.

In the past five years, CCSA has actively promoted the establishment of the friendship city partnership between Toronto and Shenzhen, and has been hailed as the "Best Non-governmental Diplomacy Ambassador"; it has successfully held a series of scientific, technological and cultural and charitable exchange activities with significant international influence, and has been hailed as " A new benchmark for overseas Chinese associations". At the same time, it actively builds an international scientific and technological innovation cooperation platform, and has made outstanding contributions in promoting scientific and technological innovation, culture and art, economic and trade exchanges between Shenzhen and Toronto. In July 2019, CCSA won The “Special Contribution Award” issued by the City of Toronto under the witness of the mayor and all city councilors.

Five years ago, when I became the first chairman of CCSA, I relied on a deep sentiment for Shenzhen. Five years later, in this year's general election, thanks to the kindness of all members and colleagues, I myself was re-elected as chairman, and felt a heavier responsibility on my shoulders.

At present, Shenzhen has ushered in a new period of development opportunities. Toronto, as the economic centre of Canada, is also one of the largest financial centres in the world. I firmly believe that under the leadership of the new council, with the joint support of members and the loving people in our community, CCSA will definitely make new contributions to promote all-round exchanges and cooperation between China and Canada, write a new chapter, and create new innovations!
